A beautiful smile can work wonders on your confidence and self-esteem. However, not everyone is born with a perfect set of teeth. Some people may have discoloured, chipped, or misaligned teeth that can affect their appearance and overall oral health. Fortunately, there's a solution that can help transform your smile - dental veneers.
Dental veneers are thin, custom-made shells that are placed over the front surface of teeth to improve their appearance. They are typically made of porcelain or composite resin and are designed to match the colour, shape, and size of your natural teeth. Dental veneers can be used to address a range of cosmetic dental issues, including:
Discoloured teeth
Chipped or cracked teeth
Misaligned teeth
Gaps between teeth
Teeth that are too small or too large

Dental veneers are a popular cosmetic dentistry option that can cover up a range of dental imperfections and give you a brighter, more attractive smile. In this article, we'll explore everything you need to know about dental veneers, including their benefits, procedure, cost, and more.
Dental veneers offer a range of benefits, including:
Improved appearance: Dental veneers can help improve the colour, shape, and symmetry of your teeth, giving you a more attractive smile.
Durability: With proper care, dental veneers can last for up to 10-15 years, making them a long-lasting cosmetic dentistry option.
Minimal tooth reduction: The procedure for getting dental veneers involves minimal tooth reduction, which means less of your natural tooth structure is removed.
Stain-resistant: Porcelain veneers are resistant to staining, which means you can continue to enjoy your favourite foods and drinks without worrying about discolouration.
Easy maintenance: Dental veneers require the same care as your natural teeth, including brushing, flossing, and regular dental checkups.
There are two main types of dental veneers - porcelain and composite resin.
Porcelain
Porcelain veneers are custom-made in a dental lab and are known for their durability, natural-looking appearance, and stain-resistant properties. They are also more expensive than composite resin veneers.
Composite
Composite resin veneers, on the other hand, are made of a tooth-coloured resin that is applied directly to the tooth and shaped to match the desired appearance. They are less expensive than porcelain veneers, but they may not last as long and are more prone to staining.
Dental Veneers - The Process
Getting dental veneers typically involves the following steps:
Consultation
STEP ONE
Preparation
STEP TWO

STEP THREE
Bonding
STEP FOUR
Adjustments
STEP FIVE
Consultation
Your Dentist Will Assess Your Teeth And Discuss Your Goals To Determine If Dental Veneers Are The Right Option For You.
Tooth preparation
To prepare for dental veneers, a small amount of your tooth enamel will be removed to make room for the veneer.
Impression
Your dentist will take an impression of your teeth, which will be used to create a custom-made veneer.
Bonding
Once the veneer is ready, your dentist will bond it to the front surface of your tooth using a special adhesive. They will use a light to cure the adhesive and harden it, securing the veneer in place.
Final adjustments
After the veneer is bonded to your tooth, your dentist will make final adjustments to ensure that it fits properly and looks natural.
After getting dental veneers, it's important to take good care of them to ensure their longevity and maintain their appearance. Here are some tips for aftercare:
Brush and floss regularly: Continue to brush and floss your teeth as you normally would to keep your veneers clean and healthy.
Avoid hard foods: To prevent damage to your veneers, avoid biting down on hard foods or using your teeth as tools.
Wear a mouthguard: If you participate in sports or grind your teeth at night, wear a mouthguard to protect your veneers.
Schedule regular dental checkups: Visit your dentist regularly to have your veneers checked and to ensure that your oral health is in good condition.

Before and After 📸 Smile Transformation by Dr Johan!
This patient had suffered for years with misaligned, uneven worn teeth and hated smiling.
Dr Johan offered the patient orthodontic treatment and whitening. Because the teeth are so heavily worn the patient also required some restoration to align the edges. The patient decided to go for a veneer treatment. She had a narrow smile line and we only needed to veneer 6 teeth. These teeth were restored with 6 Emax crowns with a natural shade and design. Now she can smile at every opportunity.

This practice is by far the very best I have been to - ever! ALL the staff are amazing, from the... warmest of welcomes on reception, to the most fantastic and 'state of the art' dental treatment by an experienced, professional and extremely caring dental team. The premises are inviting, relaxing, and absolutely spotless. I've instantly gone from a terrified patient to feeling reassured and happy with my treatment plan - in a very short period of time. I just wish we had found them sooner, and have absolutely no hesitation in recommending them (in fact I do so at every opportunity!) Never before has a dentist extracted my teeth without sedation, but Dr Johan did so with the very minimum of discomfort. I have now regained my smile, and could not be happier - thank you!read more

We lived in Canada for 20 years and when we returned to the UK eight years ago we struggled to find... a hygienist as thorough as our Canadian hygienist. Then we found Ramsbottom Dental Clinic and Kelly the hygienist. She is thorough but gentle and a lovely friendly person. The new premises are lovely with a large airy and bright waiting area.
